The field of Electrical Engineering Department was built on the shoulders of giants -Tesla, Edison, Faraday, Marconi, Bell.., to name a few- to meet the energy and telecommunication needs of humanity. Out of our advancements in powers, electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering is keeping the promise.
Electrical Engineering Department in Salahaddin University established on the academic year 1973 - 1974 as the second department of the college of Engineering. The Department offers a four years B.Sc in engineering science and Postgraduate graduates of two-years (M.Sc) in different fields of electrical engineering are commenced till now. Our department includes many electrical laboratories which supports the theoretical studies, besides it has a high quality scientific computer center for B.Sc , M.Sc and staff researches.
The Average number per year of B.Sc graduate student are 100 and for postgraduate M.Sc are 8.
The department of electrical engineering has been playing a vital role in producing scientists and technologists of highest caliber ever in the region since it was established. The department runs four under graduate programs:
- BSc in Electrical Engineering
- BSc in Power Engineering
- BSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering
- BSc in Computer and Control Engineering
Also, it runs four post-graduate programs:
- MSc in Electrical Engineering
- MSc in Power Engineering
- MSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering
- MSc in ICT Engineering
- MSc in Mechatronics
- MSc in Power and Renewable Energy Engineering
- MSc in Electronic and Computer Engineering
The constructions of EED are as the followings( All classrooms, Laboratories, staff offices are equipped with data projectors air-conditioned via split units):
1- Two main buildings
2- 12 classrooms
3- 3 stories
4- 2 Seminar rooms.
5- 2 Halls
6- Basic Electrical Engineering and Circuits Lab
7- Computer Lab (contains 45 Intel Core Due PCs connected via a wired LAN)
8- Electrical Machines Lab (DC, AC and transformer)
9- Communication Lab (Includes a Computer Networking Lab)
10- Electronics Lab (Analogue and Digital)
1 1- Microprocessor and Control Lab (The control experiments are carried out via SIMULINK simulation)
1 2- Power and High Voltage Lab
1 3- Power Electronics lab
1 4- Project lab
1 5- Control Lab
1 6- Wiring and Installation Workshop
The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and do researches.
The academic staff of EED are 40 academics; 2 professors, 4 assistant professors, 13 lecturers and 21 assistant lecturer. The department also undertakes many research projects sponsored by both the government and the industry.
The department plans for postgraduate studies academic year 2015-2016 as below:
1- MSc study 8 proposals
2- PhD study 5 proposals
