On Tuesday 18/2/2025, in Civil Engineering Department with the presence of the Head of the Civil Engineering Department and a number of academic staff, a seminar entitled “Proportion of waste recycled” was presented by (Asst. lect. Srwah Othman Ismael). Recycling rates in Erbil City, Kurdistan Region, are low compared to global standards, with much municipal waste ending up in landfills. Efforts to improve recycling have been hampered by poor infrastructure, low public awareness, and weak government policies. Recent initiatives focus on waste segregation, recycling programs, and public education. However, rapid urbanization and population growth still challenge waste management, underscoring the need for more effective strategies to boost recycling and minimize environmental impact.
