On Tuesday 18/2/2025, in Civil Engineering Department with the presence of the Head of the Civil Engineering Department and a number of academic staff, a seminar entitled (Sustainable Assessment of Overlap (Lap Splices) in Special Frame Buildings was presented by (Prof. Dr. Omer Qarani). Overlapping is necessary to transfer forces between spliced bars. Proper lapping as per codes is vital for structural integrity. Overlapping zones need to be appropriately located and detailed ensuring continuity of force transfer. Defining adequate overlapping lengths through code provisions gets vital to anchor these lap splices. Development lengths must also sufficiently transmit stresses between concrete and steel. Additionally, bar deformations lengths enhance the bond characteristic.
