Water scarcity, climate change, and fluctuating incomes and releases are some of the key challenges facing water resource management today. Reservoirs are vital in balancing the competing needs of flood control, water supply, and hydropower generation. To address these challenges, research and the use of optimization techniques have become crucial for making well-informed and efficient decisions regarding water allocation. This seminar presents a variety of optimization methods, ranging from traditional techniques like Linear Programming and Dynamic Programming to more modern approaches. By exploring these strategies, we aim to show how they enhance operational efficiency, improve risk management, and promote sustainability in water management and reservoir operations.
