On Tuesday 18/2/2025, in Civil Engineering Department with the presence of the Head of the Civil Engineering Department and a number of academic staff, a seminar entitled (Proportion of waste recycled.) was presented by (M. Srwah Othman Ismael). The proportion of waste recycled reflects the effectiveness of a community’s or nation’s waste management system and its commitment to environmental sustainability. A higher recycling rate indicates reduced pressure on landfills, conservation of natural resources, and lower greenhouse gas emissions from waste decomposition and raw material extraction. Recycling not only transforms discarded materials such as paper, plastics, metals, and glass into valuable resources but also creates green job opportunities and supports circular economy practices. Monitoring and improving the proportion of waste recycled is therefore essential for achieving global sustainability targets, particularly those outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) and climate action (SDG 13).
