Active Vibration Control in Aircraft Wings using Piezoelectric Actuators
Decreasing of system’s vibrations is an important issue for all mechanical structures like an aircraft wing where it is subjected to many types of disturbances. Many methods were proposed to decrease such vibrations by using many techniques. Modern aviation is moving away from “passive” structures (heavy, rigid metal) toward “active” structures (lightweight, sensing, and reactive). Piezoelectric actuators are the key to this transition, acting as the “nervous system” and “muscles” of a smart wing.
