Geospatial Digital Twins from reality to virtual intelligence

Abstract:
Geospatial digital twins are virtual, dynamic replicas of physical environments created by integrating GIS, BIM, and IoT sensor data, transforming static 3D models into living systems. They enable real-time monitoring, predictive simulation, and enhanced decision-making for infrastructure and smart cities by bridging the gap between reality capture and intelligent analysis.
From Reality Capture to Virtual Representation as following:
• Data Acquisition: High-resolution reality capture technologies like drones, LiDAR, and GNSS create 3D models, mapping physical objects with precise location context.
• Integrating Systems: These models blend 3D GIS and BIM to represent infrastructure within its natural and built environment.
• Real-Time Updates: Data streams from IoT devices and sensors feed real-time information to the virtual model, allowing it to reflect current conditions such as traffic, weather, or structural health.
